Let’s get to it. Today I used the same beans as yesterday, Trader Joe’s Joe medium roast coffee grounds, but a little bit less than yesterday; I left maybe a half centimeter between the top of the grounds and the lip of the filter compartment.

It’s the first day with my express, so I’m going to make my coffee today in the most basic possible way: Put the water in the base Put the coffee grounds in the filter Heat it up on the stove until coffee comes out

Introduction to the Coffee Log series When I moved out here to Washington, my mom sent me on my way with a Bialetti Moka Express espresso maker. It’s an interesting little device – like a tall, two-chambered tea kettle – whose original design is over 80 years old.
